Space is a big commodity in the New York City area, where the average studio is about 550 square feet, according to Naked Apartments. Yet somehow, this Jersey City condo has done the impossible — squeezed three bedrooms into one studio. Let that sink in.
The condo in question is located on 420 2nd Street in downtown Jersey City, which is undergoing a boom in new home construction. The building is reported to have been built in the 1940s.
According to the listing, the unit “boasts” hardwood floors “as is,” although no square footage is provided in the listing. Odd, since there are reportedly three bedrooms in this studio space.
In addition, the unit comes with stainless steel appliances — not pictured — and isn’t far from the Grove Street PATH station. The other real selling point mentioned is that it comes with one parking spot.
The listing only includes a single photo of the condo and it’s an exterior shot. This only add to the mystery of what’s actually going on inside the walls of 420 2nd Street. On the 20th anniversary of the Harry Potter series, one wonders if it’s not something enchanted like train Platform 9 and-three-quarters. Or is it more like the Police Box (aka Tardis) in Doctor Who, bigger on the inside?
We may never know for sure.
But we do know that this seemingly impossible unit will only set you back about $350,000. It has been listed on Realtor.com for just five days, and we’re surprised no one has snatched this gem up yet.
We highly recommend clicking the “request a private tour” button on the listing, just remember to bring your camera. Your friends will never believe you. Like that time you saw Bigfoot in Sak’s.
