Designed by British sculptor Anish Kapoor and Japanese architect Arata Isozaki, Ark Nova is an inflatable performance venue that is about to embark on a Japanese tour, visiting areas that were hard-hit by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami.

“Looking something like a gigantic plum-colored pregnant belly, the Ark Nova takes about two hours to completely inflate, and is capacious enough to hold an audience of about 500,” explains Gizmodo.

The 500-strong will sit on easily transportable wooden benches made from tsunami-damaged cedar trees.
