Trapp & Holbrook’s neighbourhood gets set to welcome a new elementary school
The City of New Westminster has given its school district the go-ahead to begin building a new elementary school at the former St. Mary’s Hospital site at 200 Royal Avenue.
The New West News Leader reports the school will house 550 students from kindergarten to Grade 5 — great news for families at Trapp & Holbrook, as the 20-storey, 195-home condo development by The Salient Group is being built on a site that’s just a 15-minute walk away from the future school.
The new elementary school will be another great addition to the emerging community that’s already surrounded by arts and culture, recreation, dinning, shopping and the waterfront.
When construction is completed on Trapp & Holbrook in 2015, the school will already be in operation. The New West News Leader also reports the district is working on building a replacement to New Westminster secondary, but that project has yet to receive ministry approval.
Trapp & Holbrook‘s new presentation centre is now open at 702 Columbia Street in New Westminster from 12pm to 5pm daily, except Fridays.
