We can’t help but wonder what the future holds for the world’s skylines. After doing a little digging, we compiled a list of the top seven buildings that are currently under construction, but will one day be some of the tallest skyscrapers in the world!
The Pentonium in Dubai started construction in 2007. If you’re scared of heights, you’ll want to avoid this building’s penthouse suite! The residential tower is planned to measure 516 meters high with 122 floors above the ground. If completed, the Pentonium may become the tallest residential building in the world. Unfortunately, construction was halted in 2011.
One World Trade Center is currently under construction in New York City. It will become the world’s tallest office building, measuring 541 meters in height. But, it won’t have the highest roof in NYC. As we reported earlier, that title will go to the 432 Park Avenue!
The Pingan International Finance Centre’s impressive rendering makes us swoon. Look at how it dominates that skyline! This building is currently under construction in the Shenzhen Guangdong province in China. It is expected to be 648 meters high.
India Tower is a 126 storey, 700-metre skyscraper planned for Mumbai, India. It will hold both hotel and residential suites and was expected to be complete by 2016. However, like The Pentonium, construction is currently on hold. So much for our plans to move to India in 2016!
If you’re looking to live in the high life Saudi Arabia, then you’ll want to check out the Abraj Al Bait Towers. A building complex, the tallest tower is 601 meters and is currently the second tallest building in the world. Not content to be “number 2″, this building boasts the world’s largest floor area and the tallest clock tower in the world!
The Burj Al Alam is under construction in Dubai and is supposed to resemble a crystal flower. It is set to contain office space, a retail area and serviced apartments. Amongst the impressive amenities, there is a sky garden and a Turkish bath. Where can we sign up?
Goldin Finance 117 is under construction in Tianjin, China and is expected to stand at a height of 597 meters. Construction started in 2008 and was briefly suspended in 2012. But, things are back on track and the building is expected to be finished by 2014. Can’t wait to see this building when it’s complete!
